    (IANS)

At least 11 militants, including some foreigners, were killed and several wounded in a US drone strike in Pakistan's restive North Waziristan bordering Afghanistan, military sources said.

Three missiles slammed into a militant compound in the hills near Datta Khel village, some 20 km west of North Waziristan's main town of Miranshah, the sources said.

At least 11 militants were killed and seven were injured, the sources said, adding that the toll was likely to rise.

Foreigners were among the dead, Online news agency quoted the sources as saying.

During last 2 months, the US 'drone strikes have intensified in North Waziristan, causing panic among tribesmen and resulting in several deaths.

The US says that Taliban fighters in North Waziristan use their hideouts in the region to conduct hit-and-run raids against the coalition forces in Afghanistan.

Pakistan has repeatedly demanded the drone strikes stop or that Islamabad be given the wherewithal to conduct them. The US has steadfastly refused to accede to either demand.
